Good morning, members of the Blackridge Garden Club, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens cordially extends an invitation to your organization to attend the annual Native Plant and Sustainability Conference on Sat., Oct. 15 from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. This one-day opportunity brings together national experts, landscape professionals and local gardeners to engage in meaningful discussion on plants, landscapes, and our roles as environmental stewards. The event will take place in Phipps’ Special Events Hall and includes presentations, lunch and a book sale. Topics of this year’s conference include: •Design with Natives: Incorporate native plants in your landscape design in a variety of styles, from Mt. Cuba and beyond. •Deer and the Invaded Woodland: Exotic plants are invading native landscapes, and humans aren’t the only culprit of this change. Learn how deer are changing forested ecosystems and backyard woodlands, and how you can help to maintain regional biodiversity. •Creating Pollinator Friendly Landscapes: Create a natural haven for pollinators in peril in your own backyard.
