GCFH SPRING PLANT SALE 2021

Dear Fellow Gardeners,
Only 36 days until spring arrives on 3.20.21. That means there is plenty of time to review the GCFH 2021 preorder plant list and decide which plants to reserve for your 2021 gardens. The theme for the 2021 plant sale is “Planting for Pollinators”. The perennials on the linked spreadsheet were chosen for their proven ability to attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators to the garden. Most are reported to be “deer resistant”. However, the resident deer herd in Pittsburgh’s eastern suburbs has grown so large that deer have resorted to eating many plants that were previously distasteful to them.
Regular price: $7.00/pot
Preorder price: $6.50/pot
Preorder Special: “Mix and Match” any 5 quart size perennials for $30.00 ($6.00/pot)
Nursery Gallon size perennials:
Regular price: $10.00/pot
Preorder price: $8.00/pot
Questions should be directed to Plant Sale Co-Chairs Kathy Gaberson or April Kline.
Wishing you happy garden dreams!

- We will begin accepting preorders on Monday, February 15th at 9am via email only. First come, first reserved until we “sell out”.
- Email your pre-order “wish list” to April Kline at ahkline@comcast.net.
- Payment due at pickup on Saturday, May 1st from 9am-1pm at Hope Lutheran Church in Forest Hills. Cash or personal checks accepted. Facial masks required for pickup.
- Pre-order customers are invited to an early bird “shop the sale” before the plant sale opens to the public at 11am. This is a good opportunity to purchase additional plants.
- You may add to your preorder anytime between 2/15/21 and 3/31/21 to receive discount pricing. Just send me an email with the name and number of plants that you want to add to your original order.
- Orders received from 4/01/21-4/30/21 will be reserved for you but charged full price.
- The Plant Sale will be open to the Forest Hills community from 11am-1pm on Saturday, May 1st following social distancing protocols. Everyone must wear a mask.
- Our famous “plant of the day” reports begin 2.15.21

Saturday, 10/14
7pm, BCA Clubhouse
As many of you know, the Blackridge community recently lost a dear friend. Tony Schryer died Wednesday, September 20, and we will all miss him very much.
His family would like to celebrate Tony’s happiness living in Blackridge with an Ice Cream Social in conjunction with the Blackridge Talent Show on Saturday, October 14, 7pm at the BCA. This event is free for all!
Tony was a people person. He was genuinely interested in how folks were doing. We hope that this fun event will be a great way to remember him and how he touched so many lives in the community.
We’ve got a lot of great acts to help make this a wonderful event. We could use a few more! Can you play the piano? Can you dance? Do you do magic tricks? Sing? Gymnastics? Mime?
Note: If you are a piano player, we will have an excellent weighted-key, full keyboard, digital piano for the event.
If you’d like to perform your fun and entertaining act at the talent show, email Maria (shirleytemple83@aol.com) soon! Let her know what your act is and we’ll put it in the program.
Bring a snack to share.
Looking forward this meaningful and fun event!
