In an effort to spread some fun, share Blackridge gardening highlights in non-tour years, and possibly to find some great shots to feature on note cards, we'd love you to share your photos of your gardens. Whether you have a closeup of a bloom that brings you joy or a wider landscape shot, please email us at [email protected] and we'll add you to the shared file so you can upload your photos. Let us know if you have any questions or suggestions, and enjoy your gardens!

It's impossible to overestimate the influence of this great foremother, Adrienne O'Toole, on the Blackridge Garden Club. We'll be planning a tribute in her memory. She was revered and will be greatly missed. https://obituaries.post-gazette.com/.../adrienne-george-o...
We have a few mugs available for sale at $8.00 each. They are super cute, with the 80th anniversary logo on both sides of the mug (left-handers rejoice!), and a little spoon to stir your beverage. We recommend hand washing to preserve the imprint. Comment below, on our FB page, or email [email protected] if you'd like one. We can drop it off or you can pick it up--no contact necessary! Stay safe.
Are you and your family registered to vote? This QR code will take you to https://www.vote411.org/register . The Blackridge Garden Club encourages all citizens to vote. The vote411.org website is a good resource nationally. In PA, votespa.com can help you with info about all of our election reforms, and with many other things, such as early and absentee voting. We were very sorry to learn of the passing of our dear member and longtime neighbor, Theresa Morgan. The members of the Blackridge Garden Club send our deepest sympathy to Theresa's family, especially to the Taylor family, who have been active in our Blackridge community for many years . Theresa's obituary and information about arrangements may be seen here. I am in the process of making a spreadsheet to organize my volunteers for our February 19th tree program, and even though I got a really wonderful response (Our members are great!), because both Nancy and I will be out of town for a chunk of early/mid-February--which decreases my flyer delivery crew by 2, I am finding that I am having to assign too many houses to each member who has volunteered to distribute the "Tree Time" flyers, which we will give to Blackridge residents. I plan to have the flyers in the hands of volunteers by Sunday, Feb 2, 2020, and will ask that they deliver them over the course of the following week--by Sunday, Feb 9, 2020, if possible. I am therefore wondering if any friends of the BGC might each be willing to distribute flyers to some houses in Blackridge that week? If we have a few more volunteers, I could split the total among more people and could reduce the burden on some of my other volunteers, who currently have way more than my goal. Thank you for your consideration! Thank you to Nancy Del Presto, Jeanette Trauth, Nancy Bonga, and Diane Law of the BGC for continuing our traditional service project of decorating a Christmas tree at the Eastwood branch of the Wilkinsburg Library on December 3, 2019.
Those members and guests attending our 80th BD party on December 5th will be receiving one of these LIMITED EDITION commemorative mugs with a matching spoon, but we are also holding a MEMBERS ONLY PRESALE for $8.00 from now until after the luncheon. Then, they will be offered to our friends and neighbors. They have a 12 ounce capacity and the logo is printed on both sides. Here you see mug designer Tara Taylor enjoying a hot beverage. Please contact Judy or leave a comment below if you are interested in reserving one of these great stocking stuffers. Thanks! The Verona Farmers Market from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm will be the location for Tree Pittsburgh's local tree giveaway. Please register and read the details here. Move quickly as a similar event in Monroeville is already sold out. You can plant the trees in your own yard, or donate them to our local Churchill rain garden, proposed mini-arboretum, or Churchill Commons garden. Please contact Judy Diorio for deets. Thank you!
