Additionally, I would like to propose the a change to the Blackridge Garden Club By-Laws. It has been increasingly hard to find members to agree to the President position and even the Vice President for my tenure accepted her job with the proviso that she not ever be considered the heir to the presidency. I mention that to show that it is hard to get someone to agree to lead the club as a solo. I feel that the job will seem less daunting and more time-manageable if we could have co-presidents.
Therefore, I propose, under Article VII. (OFFICERS AND THEIR DUTIES), Section 1, The officers shall be Co-Presidents (elect 2), Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and Treasurer. Nominees for Co-Presidents should have been a member of the club for three years, played an active role on one standing committee, or had work or life experience that qualifies the nominee for the administrative position. Section 2, It shall be the duty of the Co-Presidents to preside at all meetings of the Membership and Executive Board. Section 3, It shall be the duty of either of the Co-Presidents to conduct the business of the presidency in the absence of the other.
We can have discussion and vote on this change at the March meeting so I hope many members can attend.
Hope everyone is surviving this snowy, cold winter,
